Angelo So Taa Kum is a third-year medical student at the University of São Paulo Medical School. Angelo was a member of the Plastic Surgery Club and director of the Gastroenterology Surgery Club. He also worked on the project “Potassium haemostasis study after administration of packed red blood cells in hemorrhagic shock: experimental study in pigs” at FMUSP Medical Investigation Laboratory 37 with research grants and scholarships supported by Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP). Besides medicine, Angelo played on FMUSP’s baseball team, as sports have always been his passion next to medicine. His goal for this exchange program at HMS NRB is to learn more about the research process and also topics about cardiovascular with Professor Masanori Aikawa, M.D., Ph.D., and nephrology with Professor Toshiaki Nakano, M.D., Ph.D.
Angelo sees that opportunity at Harvard as a way to make him look forward to be a better student, a better doctor and a better citizen.” Angelo will be a member of the Aikawa-Aikawa lab until the end of November 2014.
