Phd Student

Casper van der Ven is a PhD candidate at the University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands. His research focuses on developing novel treatment strategies for cardiovascular diseases, including calcified aortic valve disease, myocardial infarction, and heart failure. For these projects, he is engineering a 3D model of human CAVD in our lab and a novel drug delivery platform in collaboration with the Langer laboratory at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Moreover, he is discovering novel therapeutic targets in collaboration with the Experimental Cardiology Laboratory at the UMCU. Previous experience in academic research include two research assistant positions at the Langer Lab at MIT, and one in the department of Regenerative Medicine Utrecht at UMCU. His research is supported by the CardioVasculair Onderzoek Nederland – HUSTCARE Young Talent Fellowship.
